Oct. 2024 Returned to COS for a short food/rest trip and 1st on the agenda was this restaurant. Upon arrival, I realized this was a different branch from that I had originally visited and reviewed. This is much farther out of COS downtown but, definitely equals 5, too. The ambiance is very Mexican, the former, having more modern touches specially, the exterior. I am guessing, this is the original branch. We dined on a weekday, early afternoon and nearly had the place to ourselves except for 4 other parties. This is not filling up the place as it is huge if you look at the structure from outside (refer to pictures). There is a gift shop/store that offers a wide array of Mexican goods. I even saw a (Denver) Broncos-inspired beer mug. Ordered: Chicken Enchilada Plate Camarones Rellenos Flan (for dessert) Definitely and worth withstanding the hunger on the drive to COS. Service was very warm, courteous and efficient. Open and lots of free parking spots. Updated - Oct 2024 (Original review below is supposedly for the Nevada Ave. branch.) Aug. 2024 Weekday (work) lunch with 4 other ladies. No wait, seated immediately but, the restaurant had a good number of diners. Very artsy, tastefully, though, Mexican-inspired decorations. The big metal artwork outside as one enters is beautiful! We had: Carne Asada Huevos con Chorizo Nachos Platter Queso Fundido Sopapillas Leche Flan (and 3 other main entrees) Everyone gave their food . While still dining, I was already making plans of returning with my Husband, who loves Mexican food. It was my 1st time to try Queso Fundido and Sopapillas and both were good. The Queso Fundido I definitely Another winner was the Leche Flan which is exactly the same as the Leche Flan in the Philippines . A tip: Servings are huge even for appetizers. Service was Welcoming, friendly and fast! The latter, very much appreciated as we were famished. First time diners? I recommend the Queso Fundido (app), Huevos con Chorizo (brunch item, but, I loved it), and don't forget the Leche Flan for dessert. Definitely will be included in my food places to visit when in Colorado Springs.
They deserve 5 stars for sure!! The service was excellent, the food was excellent, our margarita was the bomb!! Nice atmosphere and gift shop. My crazy burrito was so delicious and my husband really liked his shrimp burrito. % Recommend
Each person that we encountered was nice. From the server to the food runner. The portions were huge! Probably the largest that we’ve ever had at a Mexican spot in town. Some areas of the parking lot were a little beat up, but the restaurant was nice. Mexico Real is definitely a place we would visit again!
Let me say the food here is absolutely spectacular! Sundays they have a fresh roasted salsa that is absolutely amazing. And well their 32oz margaritas can't be beat! Food is always great no matter what we get and service is impeccable! I personally love that they serve chips and salsa and bean dip! Their green chile is delightful as well (got it as a side to add to my taco salad.
Do not sleep on this place. The giant peach margarita is delicious, the queso dip oh my, the plate of food... big enough to feed 2! Been in COS for 7 months this is the absolute best Mexican restaurant we’ve been to so far!!!
Original Mexican food, served with a smile. Loved it. If in town, definitely worth it. Savory and well cooked. I had Mexican Trio.
This place was slappin... that's what the young'ns say right? I got the combo 3 plate with a burrito, chalupa and tamale and yes!! The ground beef was spiced and delicious, the cheese and chipotle sauce were yes! Also, they have this pretty kewl gift shop in it, idk. Bathrooms were clean. House margaritas were good. Got a medium for 7.95 and it was plenty!
The food is amazing. Ordered the large Margarita. It was huge! The Mariachi band was fun and entertaining!
